BLOG SUBMISSIONS
We welcome guest writers and diverse voices, and would love to hear from you.
Themes
We cover topics that support self-acceptance, tolerance, and doing things your own way. This might include body positivity, mental wellbeing, self-esteem, sex positivity, growth mindset, gender, breaking down career barriers, or alternative lifestyles. We are also open to hearing your ideas and pitches for other suitable topics.
How to pitch an idea
Please email publishing@breakthatmould.com with a brief outline of your idea for a blog post. Please also include your full name, a couple of links to examples of your work, and a bit about yourself and why you want to write for us. If you aren’t yet published, don’t worry. We welcome new voices and would be happy to hear your idea. In lieu of examples of published work, please include a draft of the opening of your suggested piece; we suggest around 250 words.
Format
Posts should be written in the form of articles using first person plural (we, our, us), if and where relevant. BTM’s tone is conversational and we avoid jargon and complex language wherever possible. We want our articles to be easily understood regardless of the reader’s level of education. We do not specify a particular word count, but recommend a minimum of 350 words and would advise not going over 2,000 words. We usually aim for 600-850 words for our own posts.
Rights
All blog posts must be original work that you have full rights to share. We do not tolerate plagiarism, so please make sure to credit any sources or quotes referenced in your post. Likewise, we cannot accept any content with copyright restrictions. We don’t demand exclusivity, but do ask that you keep us informed if your work is simultaneously published elsewhere and that you ensure you have full rights to publish the piece with us before submitting. Any breach of copyright lies with the author.
Promotion
All articles will be fully credited to the author and may also contain links to your personal website or social media. We will promote any published articles on our social channels and actively encourage you to also share to your own networks.
Please note, we are only able to publish blog posts on a volunteer basis at the current time.
BOOK SUBMISSIONS
We are not currently accepting book submissions, though wish you all the best with your writing. The biggest part of the journey is self-belief and you absolutely can do it!
